Boycott animal circusesThe Ethics of Animal Circuses
November 2008

“Animal circuses lack moral justification” is the conclusion in a new report written by Research Fellow in Moral Philosophy, Dr Elisa Aaltola, and published by CAPS.

The report looks at the ethics of using animals in circuses, in particular: the welfare of animals, the value of animals and understandings concerning animals.

Dr Aaltola states: “Animal circuses suggest to children that animals have no value in themselves, and that their welfare is of so little relevance that it may be broken for our own amusement.”
