CAPT needs your old mobiles, chargers and inkjet cartridges!
November 2007
Our sister registered charity, The Captive Animals' Protection Trust (CAPT) is registered with www.recycle4charity.co.uk
Recycling aims to make the best use of resources wherever possible and should be an essential part of our everyday lives. As most of you know, CAPS and CAPT have a strong ethical stance on issues relating to the abuse of animals, people and the environment. So, it makes perfect sense for us to earn money from items that can be recycled, such as: mobile phones, mobile phone chargers and pc inkjet cartridges, etc. That’s why CAPT has started a collection scheme with www.recycle4charity.co.uk . For each mobile phone, charger and inkjet cartridge sent to recycle4charity, we will receive a donation. It’s as simple as that, and so easy to do!
It’s estimated that over 90 million mobiles are lying around unused – could yours be among them? Laid end-to-end, these phones would stretch from London to New York and would weigh around 12,000 tonnes! They contain a number of substances, some of which become hazardous if allowed to degrade in landfill sites, and cause damage to the environment.
Every year, over four million used printer cartridges get dumped in landfill sites. Around 85% of cartridges never find their way to the recycling market.
So, by recycling these items, you’re not only providing CAPT with valuable donations, you’re also helping the environment as well.
Please encourage your family, friends and work colleagues to start donating their old mobiles, chargers and inkjet cartridges. One way in which you could do this, is by circulating an e-mail to all those in your e-mail address book. The following e-mail could be used:
‘Use your old and unwanted mobile phone, phone charger and empty inkjet cartridges to raise much-needed funds for the CAPT - and it won’t cost you a single penny!
CAPT is a registered charity (No.1104400) which promotes humane behaviour toward captive animals, and raises awareness of the plight of these animals, particularly those used in the entertainment industries, including circuses and zoos.
Please help CAPT. Click on the image below and follow the on-line instructions.

Every penny counts - and we need many pennies’
A Freepost bag will be forwarded to you, which will allow 2-3 cartridges and/or mobile phones to be returned (for those of you who are more ambitious, a cardboard box is available which can hold 50 mobiles - and it's collected free!). Each bag/box will have a special code which specifically relates to CAPT, so that they can receive payment. Now, isn’t that easy!
If you’re not on the internet, you can still donate your unwanted items. Please contact us to find out how: 0845 347 9324
Please don’t post any phones or cartridges directly to CAPT!
