Payments via PayPal
What is PayPal?
PayPal is an online financial service that enables you to use your credit/debit card or PayPal account to make online payments to CAPS for your orders.
Why does CAPS use PayPal?
Many people are hesitant to provide credit/debit card information over the Internet. PayPal provides a Secure Server for the entire transaction so your card information is safe. With PayPal, CAPS does not receive your card information, only your specified payment and shipping information.
The security of your information, transactions, and money is the core of our business and our top priority at PayPal.
PayPal automatically encrypts your confidential information in transit from your computer to ours using the Secure Sockets Layer protocol (SSL) with an encryption key length of 128-bits (the highest level commercially available). Before you even register or log in to our site, our server checks that you're using an approved browser - one that uses SSL 3.0 or higher.
Once your information reaches us, it resides on a server that is heavily guarded both physically and electronically. Our servers sit behind an electronic firewall and are not directly connected to the Internet, so your private information is available only to authorised computers. This ensures that your information is unreadable by hackers.
Who is PayPal and how does it work?
Founded in 1998, PayPal, an eBay Company, enables any individual or business with an email address to securely, easily and quickly send and receive payments online. PayPal's service builds on the existing financial infrastructure of bank accounts and credit cards and utilizes the world's most advanced proprietary fraud prevention systems to create a safe, global, real-time payment solution.
Our network builds on the existing financial infrastructure of bank accounts and credit cards to create a global, real-time payment solution. We deliver a product ideally suited for small businesses, online merchants, individuals and others currently underserved by traditional payment mechanisms.
We seek to become the global standard for online payments, offering our service to users in 103 countries and regions. We have over 100 million registered users, including more than five million Business accounts. Our account base is growing by an average of 28,000 accounts per day, with virtually no traditional sales or marketing.
The size of our network and widening acceptance of our product has helped us become the leading payment network for online auction websites, including eBay. PayPal is also increasingly being used at other e-commerce sites for the sale of goods such as electronics and household items, the sale of services such as web design and travel, and the sale of digital content. Offline businesses, including lawyers, contractors and doctors, are increasingly using PayPal to receive payments online.
Founded by Peter Thiel and Max Levchin, PayPal has its headquarters in San Jose, California. PayPal is the 2002 SIIA Codie Awards winner for "Best eCommerce Solution" and is recognised by PC Magazine as one of "The Top 100 Web Sites."
Located in San Jose, California, PayPal was acquired by eBay Inc. in October, 2002.
