Adopt a monkey
May 2009
A great gift for that special occasion, helping rescued animals and raising funds!
Incredibly, it’s still legal to breed, sell and keep primates as pets in the UK and it is estimated that over 3,000 are kept, some in garden sheds or small cages.
CAPS campaigns against the use of primates in the entertainment industries, including the exotic pet trade. We are now working with the Monkey Sanctuary Trust (www.monkeysanctuarytrust.org) to provide a life-long home for rescued capuchin monkeys, Barbary macaques, patas monkeys and Amazonian woolly monkeys, in the trust’s wonderful sanctuary in Looe, Cornwall.
By adopting a monkey, you help to provide the care they desperately need as well as giving a special gift at any time of the year - you could even buy an adoption for yourself!
How to adopt
From only £24 a year, you can help to offer a safe and happy home for the many monkeys who need our care. Adoptions also make an ideal and unique gift for a friend - birthday, Christmas or any other special occasion.
You receive:
- A photo of your adopted monkey
- A personalised certificate
- An annual pass to The Monkey Sanctuary in Looe, Cornwall
- A factsheet about the monkey's species
- A brief background history of your adopted monkey
- Regular updates through the sanctuary’s newsletter
There are 20 monkeys available for adoption. Please select which monkey you want to adopt here. Alternatively, you can download a copy of the adoption form from here or contact us for a copy.
